The government paid ZW$198 million to support the operations of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, whose operations are normally funded by a 2% levy charged on services provided to both domestic and international tourists.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has stepped up its domestic tourism marketing efforts after entering into a partnership with Sports Tourism Inc to host the three-day Victoria Falls Sports Tourism Experience between September 24 and 26 in Victoria Falls. ZTA spokesperson Godfrey Koti said the objective of the festival is to promote sports tourism, market destination Zimbabwe and create sustainable development for marginalized communities in resort towns.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) launches ZimBho domestic tourism campaign. The program aims to encourage locals to rediscover Zimbabwe in order to improve the country's tourist industry. To help fund this effort, the government has exempted all tourism services from VAT for domestic tourists, lowering the rates paid for these goods and services.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority have embarked on intensive domestic tourism awareness programmes which have seen an increase in domestic tourism in Zimbabwe. Overall, the national average hotel occupancies rose by 5% to 53% from 48% recorded in 2017. A large fraction of this utilisation 82% is made up of locals mainly on workshops and conferences.Victoria Falls remains the only region with a low proportion of domestic clientele 25% otherwise all regions registered over 60% percent of their cliental from locals.
