The Government assisted two Youth Fishing projects in Binga District Province in Matabeleland North to obtain fishing permits.

Ministry of Women Affairs, Small and Medium Enterprises Development - provision of workspaces for MSMEs - working with Gweru City Council to construct 4 MSMEs factory shells in Mtapa suburb; Ministry with support from COMESA in constructing a traders’ market in Chirundu, under the Small-Scale Cross Border Initiative to accommodate 250 traders. Recently the Zimbabwean government launched a commodities exchange known as Zimbabwe Mercantile Exchange Private Ltd or ZMX. This exchange will allow farmers to trade about 18 commodities excluding maize. This will be the first such exchange in Zimbabwe ever since the other commodities exchange known as ZIMACE shutdown in 2001.

LUPANE Women’s Centre has gained recognition as one of the key export earners in Matabeleland North Province through its vibrant art and craft products. The country’s trade and development agency, ZimTrade, has commended the hard work by Lupane women and revealed that plans were underway to establish an export cluster in Matabeleland North to leverage on such community production models.
